Harriet Jane Hixon Meetz, born March 19, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, died June 6, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Stanley Paul Meetz; her parents, Harry and Freda (Rankin) Hixon; her sister, Betty Hixon; brothers, William Hixon and Fred Hixon. She is survived by her children, Maureen (Dr. Ken) Howell of AL, Kendra Meetz of IN, Dr. Richard (Lois) of IN, Janel Meetz (Sheila Bergland) of CO; grandson, Jason (Heather) Howell and great-grandson, Tristen Howell.

Harriet valued education and returned to the work force at IU Hospitals, Patient Accounts, to offer all of her children the opportunity of a college degree. She will be remembered as a gifted artist, avid reader, and an inspired teacher who faced life with a strong will, unlimited curiosity and a wicked sense of humor.

The family thanks the caring staff at Eagle Valley Meadows and the Harrison at Eagle Valley. A private service will be held at the National Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.
